KARACHI: Maintenance of mausoleum ordered

KARACHI, Nov 14: Federal Minister for Environment, Major (Retd) Tahir Iqbal, has directed to make all possible efforts to ensure proper maintenance of Quaid-i-Azam’s mausoleum. He was chairing a meeting of the Quaid-i-Azam Mazar Management Board (QMMB) here on Monday.

The minister said that the government considers Mazar-i-Quaid as a noble place and attaches great importance to its upkeep and maintenance.

He also stressed that transparency should be ensured in all the procedures involved.

The minister inquired about a news report regarding ‘black marketing and over-charging’ of the tickets at the Mazar and instructed for the proper investigation of such matters. He said that strict measures be taken against those involved in corrupt practices as such acts harm the integrity of Mazar-i-Quaid.

The minister took a serious notice of a marriage tent set up near the Mazar and ordered its dismantling as according to the Board decision, no marriages and political activities are allowed in the area surrounding the Mazar.

He instructed that implementation of all decisions taken by the QMMB should be ensured.
