KARACHI: US ‘apathy’deplored

KARACHI, Nov 14: The US government had sent 800 helicopters in Afghanistan to locate Osama Bin Laden but only 10 to Pakistan to help provide emergency assistance to thousands of people in the quake-hit region. Terming this a ‘cruel joke’ Pasban General Secretary, Usman Moazzam, who was addressing a protest rally at Karachi Press Club on Sunday, said that as against a donation of $1 billion from Muslim countries to the US to cope with Katrina, the Bush government’s contribution towards the quake relief efforts was only $25 million.

He said as against 300 helicopters immediately required, there were only 30 available at present.—Staff Reporter
