Enayetullah laid to rest

By Our Correspondent

DHAKA, Nov 14: Bangladeshi journalist Enayetullah Khan, editor of the Dhaka-based daily New Age and the weekly Holiday, was laid to rest in Dhaka on Monday with state honours. Enayetullah Khan died of pancreatic cancer at a hospital in Toronto on Thursday. He was 66.

His body arrived in Dhaka by a British Airways flight on Monday morning and was received by his family and senior colleagues of the two publications.

A large number of politicians, journalists and intellectuals thronged the National Press Club, where state honours were given to him. A garland was placed on the coffin on behalf of Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

Writer and long-time friend Faiz Ahmed, who came to the press club to pay homage, said: “I haven’t seen such a brave journalist in my life. His reporting was aggressive, brave and he was a person of principles.”
