Proteas not worried about Dhoni: coach
HYDERABAD (India), Nov 13: South Africa’s coach Mickey Arthur on Sunday said his team was not worried about big-hitting Indian batsman Mahendra Dhoni ahead of their five-match one-day series.
“We have studied his technique well and have some plans for him. We only have to wait and see how well we are able to execute them,” Arthur said.
Wicket-keeper-batsman Dhoni was man of the series in a seven-match one-day series against Sri Lanka that concluded on Saturday.
Dhoni aggregated 346 runs in the series with a superb 183 not out in the third match in Jaipur that India won comfortably on the way to their 6-1 romp.
“The key to India’s fortune is the return to form of Sachin Tendulkar as he can really lift the team,” he said.
Tendulkar slammed half-centuries in the first two matches of the series after returning to international cricket with a forced six-month lay-off because of an elbow injury.
South Africa have been unbeaten in 19 matches and drubbed New Zealand 4-0 in a home series earlier this month.
The series commences in Hyderabad on Wednesday with a day game while the remaining matches will be day-night affairs in Bangalore (Nov 19), Chennai (Nov 22), Kolkata (Nov 25) and Mumbai (Nov 28).—Reuters
