KARACHI, Nov 13: Four friends died when a speeding dumper hit a car carrying six persons on M. T. Khan Road Sunday night. The two other occupants of the car were injured.

Police said that all the victims were youngsters.

A duty officer at the Jackson police station said that heavy vehicle (LH-8702) hit the car (AGZ-407) from behind and threw it into the dug up portion of the road several feet away.

Police said that two of the occupants of the car died on the spot while two others were pronounced dead on arrival at the Civil Hospital. The deceased were identified as Kamran, Faisal, Farooq and Javed. The injured, Fazal and Furqan, were rushed to the hospital in police mobiles and provided treatment before being shifted to the Aga Khan Hospital.

Police said that the errant driver of the dumper escaped from the scene leaving behind his vehicle.

Police said that most of the six friends were residents of Kharadar.

On Korangi Road, a tanker driver died and several passengers of a bus were injured in a collision between the two vehicles.

Police said that the water tanker, belonging to DHA, and the bus of route number 17-J collided on the main Korangi Road resulting in the death of the tanker driver, Yaseen. Three passengers of the bus, Hamza, 5, his mother Rehana, 35, and Zahid, 50, were injured in the accident. They were taken to the JPMC for treatment.
