HYDERABAD: Demand to enforce ’72 language act

HYDERABAD, Nov 13: About two dozen writers, intellectuals, teachers and political activists staged a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Sunday on the language issue.

The hunger strike was sponsored by the Sindhi Adabi Sangat.

According to reports reaching here hunger strikes were also observed at the district headquarters.

Prominent among those who observed hunger strike included Taj Joyo, Rehana Channar of the Sindh Aurat Sabha, noted writers Nisar Hussaini, Zeb Nizamani, Amar Sindhu and Hussain Bux Thebo of the Sindh National Council.

MIRPURKHAS: A large number of people including poets, advocates, doctors, teachers, social and political workers under banner of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat observed a token hunger strike outside the press club seeking implementation of Sindhi Language Act 1972, here on Sunday.

Dr Raza Laghari, Ali Hassan Chandio advocate, Iqbal Rind, Zahoor Leghari, Zeeshan Laghari, Salahuddin Panhwar, Abbas Magsi, Khuda Bux Khaskheli and others observed strike, demanding implementation of Act.

DADU: A large number of people took out a procession in Mehar town on Sunday in protest against Sindh government’s move to stop the teaching of Sindhi at intermediate level.

They took out a rally on the call of Sindhi Adabi Sangat which marched on the main roads of the town.

They were led by central press secretary of the Sangat, Azad Anwar Kandhro.

The participants observed a token hunger strike and demanded action against those private schools administrations in Sindh, who were not teaching Sindhi language in their schools.

LARKANA: Writers and intellectuals under the flag of Sindhi Adabi Sangat, Larkana, and Barani Mugiri branches held separate protests here on Sunday to press the Sindh government to implement the Sindhi language act of 1972.

Ghulam Hussain Bughio presided over the meeting.

The Larkana branch of Sindhi Adabi Sangat following its meeting observed a token hunger strike outside the press club.
