KARACHI, Nov 13: The Federal Government Urdu University for Arts, Science and Technology will set up four new research centres — Urdu Language, English Language, Seismic Centre and Social Policy Centre.
Besides, seven new projects will be initiated for further expansion and upgradation of the university, said Vice Chancellor of the university Dr Iqbal Mohsin while speaking at the third annual programme of the varsity.
He said the strength of students had become 8,500 whereas 240 teachers and students were pursuing MPhil and PhD degrees.
Dr Iqbal said this year 106 teachers were inducted while 65 teachers and 150 non-teaching staff were awarded higher ranks.
Addressing as the chief guest on the occasion, Dr Jamiluddin Aali said he was confident the Urdu University would emerge as one of the leading universities of the country. — APP
