LRC directive for trainers

Published November 12, 2005

LAHORE, Nov 11: The Lahore Race Club (LRC) has directed all owners, trainers and authorised agents that they should declare before the race, the type of shoes their horses may use in the race.

If they are using steel shoes, they should write RP in the declaration form and in case silver plates, they should indicate AP and special mention should be made while using surgical shoes or plates.

LRC further directed that in any case they would not be allowed to use shoes other than declared in the form.

This is a common practice followed by the race clubs world over that specific mention is made about the shoes with which horses are to run.

Usually in Europe, USA, UK, Ireland and other countries aluminum shoes made by recognised Companies.

However in track work steel shoes are used in majority cases.

The aluminum shoes have been refined by a drop-forging process to make them strong enough to withstand pressure under horse-foot.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Meanwhile, the Lahore Race Club (LRC) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at club’s conference room on Dec 24.

A notification issued by the LRC and distributed among the members said that elections of stewards for the 2005-06 term will be held besides other items on the agenda which include proposals for the uplift of racing facility.

The meeting will be presided over by the LRC chairman Tariq Aziz.—A.G.
