Pro-govt tribal elder killed

By Dilawar Khan Wazir

WANA (South Waziristan Agency), Nov 11: Masked men killed a pro-government tribal elder near Kalosha on Friday. Malik Allah Gai was on his way to Kalosha from Wana bazaar when the masked men opened fire on him from a car.

The attackers riding a car were chasing a passenger vehicle, which was carrying 56-year-old Malik Allah Gai from Wana bazaar.

Family sources said that unidentified persons had distributed pamphlets in Kalosha area against the late Malik, who had helped army troops in the tribal region in dismantling hideouts of foreign suspected militants in the Azam Warsak area. The single-page pamphlet read: “Malik Allah Gai had led tribal Lashkar against foreigners in Azam Warsak, so he deserved to be punished.”

A number of tribal elders and maliks who had supported military action against militants in the South Waziristan Agency had been killed in the region.

LANDMINE: An army captain and a soldier suffered injuries when their vehicle hit by a landmine in the Shakai valley on Friday. They had been admitted to a military hospital, officials said.
