Five named in nazim’s murder case

By Our Staff Correspondent

FAISALABAD, Nov 11: Five people, including an aspirant for the union council 155 nazim office, have been nominated in the nazim’s murder case.

Mian Irshadul Haq, the father of deceased union council nazim Muhammad Afzal, has described the killing as an outcome of political rivalry. He said Mian Muhammad Haneef, who was defeated by his son in the election to the UC 155 nazim slot, hatched a conspiracy to kill Afzal in connivance with Muhammad Shafi.

The outlaws hired Ramzan, Shaukat and Abid Ali, nephews of Mian Hanif, who opened fire on Afzal when he was sitting outside his house along with several other people. Afzal died instantly while Mian Anwar, Ghulam Sarwar Qureshi and Malik Muhammad Arshad suffered injuries.

The police registered a case against Hanif, Shafi, Ramzan, Shaukat and Abid Ali under section 109, 148, 149 and 302 of PPC and section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Sources said the police had so far arrested Abid and Ramzan while raids were being conducted for the arrest of the other suspects.
