DADU, Nov 11: Manzoor Ali Solangi, son of Ahmed Khan Solangi, succumbed to his burn injuries on Friday night and died in the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Hospital in Jamshoro.
The youth had attempted to commit suicide seven days back in Sita Road after a futile attempt to secure a job in the Hyderabad Electric Supply Corporation (Hesco) against the quota of his deceased father, Ahmed Solangi, who died of cardiac arrest while performing duty in Hesco.
He sustained 85 per cent burn injuries and was rushed to the LUMHS Hospital in Jamshoro in a precarious condition. On Thursday night, he succumbed to his injuries and died.
The mother of the deceased said that Ahmed Khan Solangi was a Hesco lineman.
She said that Manzoor had applied for the job but Hesco officials rejected his application and he, in desperation, attempted self-immolation.
She complained that Hesco provided jobs to influential people but her family was neglected as they were poor and incapable to pay bribe to Hesco officials.
She appealed to President Gen Pervez Musharraf to order an inquiry into the matter.
SUSPENDED: An ASI and four police constables were suspended on Friday for extortion from transporters in Dadu town.
Dadu DPO Rukhsar Ahmed Khuhawar, after receiving complaints from transporters and public, initiated an inquiry and found the allegations correct and suspended ASI Khan Jamali and four constables namely Zulfiqar Ahmed Panhwar, Wahid Khushik, Saleem Panhwar and Asghar Thaheem.
Suspended policemen have been lodged at the lock-up of the Police Line, Dadu.
SI Pat Gul Mohammad and Meenhoon Khan Babbar has been appointed as investigation officer.
NEGLIGENCE: Dadu Taluka Nazim Naban Khan Lund, along with engineer of the taluka municipal administration, Gulzar Ahmed Khushik, paid a surprise visit to the fire brigade station and found six employees absent from duty.
They included fire brigade unit in charge Shabbir Ahmed Memon, Allah Bachayo Charan, Basheer Ahmed Leghari, Roshan Ali Charan, Manzoor Hussain Vighio and Shahnawaz Babbar. All of them were put under suspension.
Later, the taluka nazim inspected different ongoing schemes in the town, including tube-well scheme, drainage scheme and construction of roads in Badarabad Colony.
CLASH: Nine persons were injured in a clash between two rival groups over a piece of land in Bhatti Mohalla, Mehar, on Friday.
The clash took place over a plot between two influential groups — MQM local leader Punhal Chandio and Ashiq Tunio.
Guns were used in the clash as a result of which Malook, Ashiq, Abdul Majeed, Manzoor, Mashooq, Haji Peeral, Ghaffar Tunio, Mohammad Azam and Mohammad Yousuf Chandio sustained bullet injuries.
The injured were admitted to the taluka hospital, Mehar.
No case was registered till the filing of the report.
