PESHAWAR, Nov 11: Police arrested Ijaz Ali Shah, allegedly involved in the Hashtnagri incident that claimed the life of a 10-year-old boy, in the court premises after his bail before arrest confirmation application was turned down by the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) here on Friday.
Judge ATC Shahjee Rehman Khan after hearing arguments of the petitioner’s counsel and prosecution dismissed the bail application of the accused and police arrested him in the court’s premises.
Accused Ijaz Ali Shah, Amjad Ali Shah and four others were charged in connection with the Hussainia Street (Hashtnagri) incident on September 2, 2005, in which one Junaid, 10, was killed and a few others were critically injured.
The court had already rejected the bail application of accused Abid Ali Shah.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Fakhar Zaman acquitted two accused, Nadir Khan and Baidar Gul, of Mohmand Agency, following failure of the prosecution to prove the allegations of firing rockets on police station Sharqi, Peshtakhara and CID on April 13-15 last year.—APP
