KARACHI: Lyari people plan sit-in for Monday

KARACHI, Nov 11: Nazim of UC-6 Shah Baig Lane, Lyari Town, Haji Abdul Majeed Bloch has announced that the area people would stage a sit-in outside the office of the town administration on Monday against the alleged failure of the local administration and water board in supplying adequate quantity of potable water and improving sanitation and sewerage conditions in their localities.

In a statement, Mr Baloch said that despite assurances by the town administration with regard to an improvement the conditions in Phool Pati Lane, Ali Mohammad Mohalla, Bhind Mohalla, Eidu Lane and Shah Baig Lane, nothing had been done so far. The local population, he pointed out, continued to suffer due to scarcity of water and defective sewerage system.

He said that the local residents would also encircle the concerned pumping stations in protest against the unfair distribution of water.
