QUETTA, Nov 10: At least six people were killed and six others injured on Thursday in a landmine explosion in the border village of Brabcha, which lies close to Afghanistan’s Hilmand province.
Among the injured were women and children.
“Six Afghans belonging to one family died on the spot in the powerful blast,” Pakistani border officials said.
Reports reaching here say that 12 members of the Afghan family were on their way to Brabcha, a village around 100km from the border, in a pickup. The pickup carrying the ill-fated family collided with a landmine, which blew up the vehicle. As a result six people were killed while as many suffered serious injuries.
Upon receiving the information, Afghan officials rushed to the site and took the injured to Lashkargah, the capital of Hilmund province, for treatment.
“The victims were commoners with no political links with any resistance group in Afghanistan,” the sources said.
