Gas plant attacked with rockets and grenades

SUKKUR, Nov 10: A gas plant, G-2 point, situated at the border of Sindh and Balochistan, in the jurisdiction of Bhittai colony police station, was attacked with rockets and hand-grenades late on Wednesday night.

A boundary wall of the gas plant was destroyed in the attack but the plant remained safe.

The outlaws also fired rockets on the checkpoint of 40 Wing Rangers which landed away from the checkpoint.

Later, the outlaws fled from the spot when the Rangers retaliated. No casualty or injury was reported.

KILLING: A woman was strangulated to death by armed persons over a land dispute in the Suhrab Khan Domki village in the jurisdiction of Risaldar police station on Wednesday night.

Five persons, Dothi Jakhrani, Khawand Bux Jakhrani, Ali Khan Jakhrani, Bux Ali Jakhrani, and one unidentified man barged into the house of Hoti Jakhrani, overpowered inmates of the house on gunpoint and killed Hoti’s wife Noor Bibi.

The assailants then fled from the scene.

THIEF KILLED: An alleged thief was killed by inmates of a house in the Gulan Khan Leghari village in the jurisdiction of Ghotki police station on late Wednesday night.

A group of armed thieves tried to broke into the house of Rehmatullah Leghari but the inmates woke up and opened fire on the thieves.

As a result of firing a thief was killed on the spot while his accomplices managed to escape from the scene.

Later, police shifted the dead body to the local hospital.

The deceased was identified as Tahir Sundrani.

BREACH: Six villages and crop of rice on hundreds of acres came under water when a 30-feet wide breach occurred in the Eid Begari Drain near Shahdadkot on early Thursday morning.

The breach occurred near the Mohammad Bux Khawar village.

The affected villages included Mir Shahnawaz Magsi and Brohi Goth.

COMMITTEE: DCO Shafiq Ahmed Khoso has constituted an 11-member committee to fix prices of essential commodities in the district.

Executive district officer (revenue) and assistant director of the Market Committee would be the chairman and the secretary of the committee respectively.

EDO agriculture, district officer (revenue) and deputy district officers (revenue) of Sukkur, Rohri, Salehpat and Pano Akil talukas would be members of the committee.
