ISLAMABAD, Nov 10: The World Health Organization (WHO) on Thursday donated 18 ventilators and 18 monitors to the health authorities for treatment of tetanus patients. WHO Representative Dr Khalif Bile handed over four ventilators and four monitors to Health Minister Mohammad Nasir Khan for installation at Federal Government Services Hospital (FGSH). The equipment was handed over to the government in a simple ceremony held at the hospital.

Apart from four ventilation units for Polyclinic, WHO has donated two ventilators to Muzaffarabad, two each to Holy Family and Rawalpindi General hospitals and eight to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

These ventilators are ideally suited for treatment and prophylaxis of spasm due to tetanus.

Both the health minister and Health Secretary Syed Anwar Mehmood appreciated the WHO for donating these much-needed ventilators.
