KARACHI: Ex-KBCA chief shown absconder

KARACHI, Nov 10: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) submitted final charge-sheet against an officer of the Karachi Building Control Authority and his personal assistant in the provincial anti-corruption court, headed by Judge Arjun Ram Talreeja.

The judge put off the hearing of the case till Nov 21 and ordered the prosecution to produce its witnesses.

Former KBCA chief Brig S. A. Nasir has been shown an absconding accused in the charge-sheet.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) had arrested Akhlaq Ahmed, controller of KBCA, and his personal assistant Moinuddin on Oct 24 for their involvement in irregularities and corruption in the affairs of the Karachi Building Control Authority.

It was alleged that Akhlaq Ahmed had retired from his service in the year 2001. He was given extension of two years which had also expired but he continued to work on the three positions.

The ACE investigation also showed that Akhlaque Ahmed had possessed an apartment on 6th floor in Al-Mashriq Centre near the Civic Centre where all illegal deals were made.
