KARACHI, Nov 10: The Sindh council of the Pakistan People’s Party on Thursday slammed the government’s alleged inefficiency in mounting relief operation for the earthquake victims and questioned transparency in the whole process.
The meeting, which was chaired by the provincial party chief Syed Qaim Ali Shah, was also of the view that NAB lacked the credibility as it only was targeting the opposition and sleeping over cases against the ruling party members.
The meeting also called upon the regime to place before the parliament commitments made by foreign donors towards relief of the quake victims.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah said the Sindh Council deplored the alleged victimization of its supporters by the ruling coalition, expressed concern over government’s inefficient relief work in the earthquake affected areas and maintained that return of party chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto was essential for democracy and integrity of the country.
Mr Shah, who chaired the Sindh Council meeting, said that there was detailed discussion on the ruling coalition’s policy of victimizing the opposition supporters and framing up fake cases against them and usurping their property and other belongings.
The meeting also took serious notice of the alleged attack on MPA Akhtar Jadoon.
It also expressed concern over the demise of two children of Shehla Raza and attributed it to city administrations inefficiency.
General Secretary of the party Nafees Siddiqui maintained that relief operation was not transparent and demanded that the matter should be discussed in the parliament.
In the context of the appointment of the new NAB chief, he said the institution lacked credibility because it had only acted as an arm of the regime to target the opposition.
