KARACHI, Nov 10: Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information Technology Mohammad Noman Saigal has stressed the need for a separate provincial department for dealing with any natural calamity.

He was talking to a delegation from Clifton and Defence areas which called on him in his office.

He said that such a department should be equipped with modern scientific equipment whereas arrangements should also be made for conducting research with regard to natural disasters in the wake of the October 8 earthquake and the jolts felt in Clifton and Defence areas recently. Earlier, the delegation expressed concern over the jolts intermittently rocking their areas.

He told the delegation that as part of precautionary measures for meeting any emergency in the province, recommendations were being put forward to Sindh governor and chief minister.—APP
