Aid through air-bridge pours in
ISLAMABAD, Nov 9: Aid for the Oct 8 quake victims continues to arrive at the Chaklala air base through ‘air-bridge’ while a Swiss delegation has called on the foreign minister here in the federal capital.
According to details, Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri applauded the timely assistance from Switzerland for the quake-hit people.
Talking to the political director of the Swiss ministry of foreign affairs, Urs Ziswiler, he said Switzerland responded swiftly to assist in rescue and relief.
The minister briefed the Swiss delegation regarding composite dialogue between Pakistan and India and they discussed enhancement of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
UAE PLANE ARRIVES: The 45th plane of relief goods from the UAE arrived in the Chaklala military air base.
The UAE ambassador Ali Mohammed Al-Shamsi said that with the arrival of another plane, the total relief supplies from UAE reached 2,600 tonnes.
The relief goods include tents, blanket and food items. The arrival of goods is part of an air bridge formed between Pakistan and UAE to continue supply to the quake-affectees, he said.
Meanwhile, the eleventh aircraft of 40-tonnes of relief goods from the UAE Red Crescent Society arrived on Tuesday. The head of RCS mission in Pakistan Saeed bin Khadem Al-Mansouri said the humanitarian supplies will be distributed with the cooperation of the concerned authorities and Pakistan Red Crescent Society in Muzaffarabad.
ACTION AID: The ActionAid Pakistan sent one truck— carrying food items, blankets, tents, candles and matchboxes for 100 families in coordination with Care International to Chunera village in Bagh.—Agencies
