KARACHI: Completion of IT project ordered


KARACHI, Nov 9: Sindh Education Minister Hamida Khuhro has taken serious notice of slow progress on Rs347 million Information Technology project and directed the officials concerned to complete the project in time and make it beneficial for young generation.

The directives to this effect were issued in a review meeting held at the residence of education minister on Wednesday. Special Secretary Education Aftab Ahmed Mareka, IT Project Director Abdul Fatah Tunio other high officials attended the meeting.

Under the IT, computer science teachers, lab assistants and computer laboratories project, 206 computers are being installed with the 50 per cent contribution/ matching grant by the federal government. These computer labs are being established in the secondary and higher secondary schools of the province with the ratio of 14 schools per district.

Hamida Khuhro reviewed the progress towards recruitment of 412 IT teachers, lab in charges and directed the IT project director to complete the procedure of IT equipment and furniture as per the approval and criteria of various public forums.

She said that she would not allow the tactics of any further delay in the project and said that action would be taken against the officials who caused delay to the project.

The minister expressed hope that this project would provide new avenues in the private lab market to the young generation of Sindh. —APP
