KARACHI: MSA arrests 66 job-seekers

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 9: The Maritime Security Agency arrested on Wednesday 66 people, including 41 aliens, who were being smuggled to a Gulf state in a launch. Sources said an MSA vessel, Rehmat, was patrolling the waters when it spotted a launch, Javed Mehmood, bearing registration number 16848-B. They said the launch was carrying 66 people, who included 36 Bangali-speaking jobseekers and 5 Burmese.

The sources said the intending illegal immigrants were handed to the FIA’s Passport Circle for further legal action. Meanwhile, an FIA team rounded up nine Bengali-speaking jobseekers near Gadani. They were trying to reach Mand Ballu, Balochistan, from where they were to be smuggled to Muscat via Iran.
