NAIROBI, Nov 9: Kenya’s tea prices eased at this week’s auction, depressed by increased quantities on offer and a dip in quality, dealers said on Wednesday. Mombassa-based Africa Tea Brokers said there was fair demand for the 104,545 packages offered at the auction, compared with 94,405 packages last week.
Brighter Best Pekoe Ones fetched between $2.06 and $2.76 per kg compared with $2.20 and $2.73 at the last auction. Brighter Best Pekoe Fannings Ones fetched $1.66-$1.89 per kg compared with the last auction’s $1.70-$2.40. Out of the total 104,545 packages offered, 14,676 were unsold compared with 12,600 unsold last week.—Reuters
