RAWALPINDI, Nov 8: Emergency in three city hospitals has been lifted, which was imposed after the October 8 quake. After the lifting of emergency, regular patients have started visiting the Combined Military Hospital, Military Hospital and the Cantonment General Hospital. However, there are still many affected people under treatment.

Meanwhile, the PC-1 of the up-gradation of the Cantonment General Hospital is in progress. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has announced 250 while secretary ministry of defence has announced 30 million rupees for the up-gradation, after which the hospital would extend from 120 beds to 300 beds.

CDA WARNS SCHOOLS: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has again issued warnings to all private educational institutions to obtain fitness certificate of their buildings otherwise strict action will be taken against them.

It must be mentioned that after the disastrous Oct 8 quake, various buildings of the capital have developed cracks.

In view to protect children of various schools in the federal capital, CDA has asked all private institutions to obtain a fitness certificate of the respective buildings.

ENCROACHMENT: Commuters of the cantonment, Sadiqabad, Transformer road, Kamran Market and other areas of Rawalpindi have expressed their concern over the increasing encroachment in the city.

Footpaths have been occupied by cabins, pushcarts, hotel- operators, automobile showrooms and other business outlets, leaving no choice for the pedestrians but to walk on roadsides risking their life.—Agencies
