SWABI, Nov 8: Arsonists set alight trees covering mountains of Maneri Bala and Maneri Payan and Bamkhel graveyard. Two such incidents have been reported. Fires raging in the area have reduced a large number of trees into ashes.

The fires which were set off on Monday night quickly spread across a wide area and flames could be seen even on peaks.

A number of shisham, acacia and other kinds of trees were burnt down. The fires have destroyed the greenery and pristine environment of the region.

The nazims of Maneri Bala union council and Maneri Payan UC have taken strong notice of the incident and declared that they would lodge an FIR with the Swabi police station against the unidentified culprits.

Some elements also set fire to the main graveyard of Bamkhel UC, destroying rows of green trees.
