HDA, Wasa officials booked

HYDERABAD, Nov 8: Police on Tuesday lodged a case against the director general of the Hyderabad Development Authority and the managing director of the Water and Sanitation Agency on the compliant of the maternal uncle of a one-and-half-year-old boy who had died in an open gutter on the third day of Eidul Fitr.

The case was lodged under section 322 PPC on the complaint of Nazeer Lashari against the DG HDA and MD WASA vide crime No.74/05.

The boy, Bakht Ali, had died in Qasimabad-II on Monday after he fell in an open gutter.

Wasa MD Shaukat Hayat Bhutto completed his preliminary inquiry report in the matter under directive of the district nazim.

He stated in the report that the gutter was lying open for the last eight days but the lower staff did not report it to the Wasa officers.

He said that sub-engineer was on leave for the past eight days.

The assistant executive engineer Zulfikar Arain has been suspended by the DG HDA Tahir Ahmed in the matter.
