KARACHI, Nov 8: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has assured the injured quake victims under treatment in various hospitals in the city that they would be extended all necessary support, including shelter and medical care, till they fully recovered from their ailment.
Dr Arbab visited such patients at the orthopaedic and surgical wards of Civil Hospital and asked them if they had any complains. He told them that the government was fully committed to their proper recovery and would take all necessary measures in this regard.
Responding to their concern about vacating their hospital beds for new patients before they fully recovered, the chief minister assured them of due care and attention, adding that it would be ensured that they were not abandoned.
Dr Kaleem Butt, Medical Superintendent of the Civil Hospital informed the chief minister that the formerly burns ward having 47 beds had been spared for earthquake victims. He said that 10 beds in each specialized wards at the hospital were being reserved for quake victims.
He pointed out that apart from those patients airlifted by C-130 aircraft into Karachi and admitted to the CHK, there were many more who had been brought here by their relatives.
Dr Arbab individually inquired about the wellbeing of 22 patients from quake-hit areas. They patients included eight women and the three-year-old Baby Muskan. He presented Rs1,000 and a bouquet to each of them.
INDUSTRIAL PARK: Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Tuesday visited the proposed site of the National Industrial Park close to the coastal strip of coast Korangi.
On the occasion, DCO Fazlur Rehman and senior revenue officials briefed him about the land and steps taken for development of the area.
The chief minister was informed that over 680 acres of land was available and more land could also be made available for the proposed park.
Dr Arbab inspected the site which included marshland in close proximity of the sea.
He was informed that allotment of about 1,097 acres of land worth billions of rupees which had been granted on political grounds or grabbed through fake allotment in the previous governments had now been cancelled.
The chief minister took serious exception to the reports that some allottees had failed to establish their industries in the adjacent areas, and directed the officials that all such allotments be cancelled if the concerned allottees failed to make use of their land within the stipulated time, as required under the relevant law. He said necessary legislation would soon be enacted in this regard.
Chairman of the CM’s Investment Cell Muslim Abbasi told Dr Arbab that prospective local and foreign investors were being asked to submit their proposals for investment in the proposed industrial park. He stated that prospects for investment in treatment plants, desalination plants, etc., were also good.
Dr Arbab inquired about encroachments in the area and ordered standardized demarcation to be carried out. He also visited the proposed approach road connecting the main Korangi Road and the industrial park site.
Earlier, he took an aerial view of the land allocated for the national Industrial Park. He was accompanied by senior provincial and city government officials.—APP
