KARACHI: Relief fund set up

Published November 9, 2005

KARACHI, Nov 8: The World Bridge Federation (WBF) has instituted an earthquake relief fund, according to the WBF Vice-President, Mazhar Jafri. He said on Tuesday that the fund had been set up following his discussion with the WBF President and ace bridge star Zia Mahmood during a meeting of the executive committee of the world body in Estoril (Portugal) while the Bermuda Bowl World Championship was under way. The event concluded on Nov 5.

The fund will be managed by WBF Executive Secretary Anna Gudge, based in London, who can be contacted at her e-mail:anna@cats.co.uk. To raise funds for the purpose, Anna Gudge will organize worldwide bridge contests in early January 2006, the details of which will appear on website: www.ecatsbridge.com.—APP
