KARACHI: Water tanker set afire after accident

KARACHI, Nov 8: A water tanker was set on fire after it knocked down a motorcyclist at Nagan Chowrangi on Tuesday. Police said that Abdul Rasheed and Zaheer were riding a motorcycle when it was hit by the speeding water tanker. They were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Rasheed was pronounced dead on arrival and Zaheer was provided treatment.

Following the accident, enraged people of the area torched the water tanker and gave a severe beating to the driver before handing him over to the police.

ARRESTED: A bandit was arrested while his two accomplices fled during a shootout with police in Lyari on Tuesday. A passer-by was wounded in the firing.

Police said that the bandit, Amjad, along with his two accomplices, robbed two policemen in civvies. As the suspects were proceeding, a police party spotted them at Maula Madad Chowk resulting in an encounter.

A pedestrian, Yameen, suffered a bullet wound in the firing. He was shifted to the Civil Hospital.

Police arrested Amjad and recovered a pistol from his possession. His accomplices managed to flee.
