Court takes up woman’s application

SUKKUR, Nov 7: Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani of the Sindh High Court, Sukkur circuit bench, has ordered SHO Sadhoja to appear in the court on November 18 and state why despite an order of the court he failed to arrest the culprits who were issuing threats to an octogenarian woman, Ms Janti.

This was stated by Ms Janti while talking to newsmen at the Sukkur press club on Monday.

She said she had filed an application in the court on October 21 in which she had stated that her stepson Sikandar Chachar, son of Ellahi Bux, wanted to kill her as kari.

She said she had given Rs120,000 to Sikandar to make arrangements for sending her to perform Haj but he misappropriated the money.

When she demanded money he declared her kari and threatened to kill her.

She said the court had ordered the SHO of Sadhoja to register an FIR against the accused who were issuing threats to Ms Janti and arrest them.

She said the SHO had lodged the FIR but had not yet arrested the culprits.

Ms Janti once again appeared in the court and stated that her life was under threat.

On that the court ordered the SHO Sadhoja to appear in the court on November 18.

Ms Janti, 80, narrating her ordeal at the press club appealed to newsmen to highlight her case so that the culprits could be taken to task.
