Simplicity marks Eid observance


ISLAMABAD, Nov 6: The nation on Friday observed Eidul Fitr with solemnity and simplicity to express solidarity with victims of earthquake in the NWFP and Azad Kashmir.

The faithful thronged to Eidgahs, mosques and open places to offer prayers and seek Allah’s assistance for early recovery of quake-affected people.

President Gen Pervez Musharraf offered Eid prayers at Army Stadium, Rawalpindi.

Special prayers were offered for stability, solidarity and prosperity of the country and wellbeing of people.

The largest Eid congregation in Islamabad was held at the Faisal Mosque; in Lahore at Badshahi Mosque and in Karachi at Bagh-i-Jinnah.

NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani offered Eid prayer at Bassiyan village in Balakot.

In Balochistan also Eid was celebrated with simplicity. The faithful prayed for wellbeing of quake victims.—APP
