One killed, 49 injured in mosque roof collapse

FAISALABAD, Nov 6: One person was killed while 49 others sustained injuries when the roof of a mosque caved-in during Eid prayers in Bashirabad in the limits of Sadar police station.

Reports said that over 200 people were offering prayers in Jamia Masjid when its roof collapsed on them. As a result, 49 people suffered head and chest injuries. Police teams and the area people recovered the injured from debris. They were shifted to various local hospitals where one Tanveer Ahmed died owing to excessive bleeding. The condition of all other injured was stated to be out of danger.

Eyewitnesses said that a prompt action by the area people and the police saved a number of lives as the injured were recovered from the rubble within the shortest possible time.
