MIRPUR (AJK), Nov 6: Glowing tributes were paid to martyrs of Jammu on the 58th Jammu Martyrs Day on Sunday. The day is observed every year to commemorate supreme the sacrifices rendered by Muslims in 1947 out of their deep-rooted love for Pakistan.
Various programmes were arranged to observe the day but the main function was held under the auspices of Jammu Welfare Society (JWS) and was chaired by Sardar Jamil Sadiq Advocate, former president of the Kashmir Press Club Mirpur. Speakers including convener JWS Altaf Hamid Rao, Raja Sohrab Ahmed Khan and others paid rich tributes to the martyrs for kindling the candle of freedom for Kashmiris.
They recalled that the Jammu tragedy had not only dispelled the obscurity about the destination of the Kashmiri people but also streamlined their objective conspicuously, which inspired people and became the source of strength and courage for those who later propelled their cause - liberation of occupied Jammu Kashmir from the India and the accession of the entire Jammu and Kashmir state to Pakistan.
“Supreme sacrifices of 2.5 million martyrs paved the say for the people of the state to continue their struggle for liberation of their motherland”, they said, adding that Kashmiris’ struggle for freedom was in fact a movement for completion of Pakistan. They said that the best way to pay tributes to the martyrs was to continue their mission till achievement of the goal.—APP
