KARACHI: Eid celebrated with simplicity

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 6: Eidul Fitr was celebrated in the city on Friday with solemnity and simplicity as an expression of solidarity with the quake victims in Kashmir and the NWFP.

The faithful offered prayers and sought Allah’s blessings and help for the early recovery of the quake affected people. They also offered special prayers for the prosperity and solidarity of the country.

Ulema and Khateebs highlighted the importance of this festival in their sermons and called upon the people to extend assistance to the quake victims.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, cabinet ministers, City Nazim Mustafa Kamal and diplomats and high-ups of the government offered Eid prayers at the Bagh-i-Jinnah, old Polo Ground.

The authorities had beefed up security to check any untoward incident by the deployment of extra force for vigilance and to ensure security.

At public places traditional festivities were missing despite rush of people who had converged from different parts of the city at Clifton, Zoo, Safari Park, Quaid-i-Azam Mausoleum and the Askari Park.
