SHIKARPUR: Two shot dead in armed attack

By Rehmatullah Soomro

SHIKARPUR, Nov 6: Two brothers were killed in an armed attack when they were on their way to fields for harvesting paddy crop outside Jan Mohammad Lashari Village on Sunday.

Reports said that 10 armed men were hiding in the bushes at a link road who opened fire on Jehangir Lashari and Shamsuddin Lashari, who were going on a donkey cart. Both of them died on the spot.

The motive behind the incident was said to be an enmity which emerged over irrigation water rotation programme approximately a year ago.

A number of people from both groups had injured in different clashes that took place earlier.

A heavy police contingent led by TPO Garhi Yasin rushed to the spot and began a search operation with help of the villagers.

Seven accused identified as Umed Ali, Shafi Mohammad, Dilbar, Imamuddin, Sikandar, Mohammad Moosa and Hakim Ali, all Jakhranis, were arrested by police and recovered four Kalashnikovs, two double barrel shotguns, one 303 official rifle and a good quantity of ammunition. Dakhan police have registered a case.

However, three of the accused identified as Lakhmir, Moula Bux and Dil Murad Jakhrani escaped.
