SIALKOT, Nov 2: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has taken a serious notice of inordinate delay in the reconstruction of a bridge over Tavi near Salehpur village which was swept away by the swollen river in July.

According to official sources, the Punjab chief minister has sought a detailed report from the department concerned.

While addressing a meeting of the flood affected people at Chaprar, the chief minister had announced the reconstruction of the bridge on priority basis. However, no construction has yet been started due to reasons known to the departments concerned.

Villagers are facing problems as the bridge was the only link with the city.

Meanwhile, irrigation department officials said they were fully aware of the nasty situation.

They claimed that they could not start the construction due to a tussle between the influentials of the ruling party.
