KARACHI: Sharifs be allowed to return home, says PML-N

KARACHI, Nov 2: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (Sindh chapter) leader Mamnoon Hussain has urged the government to allow Sharif Brothers and Benazir Bhutto to retun to their homeland.
“They can play a vital role in overcoming the crisis created in the wake of Oct 8 earthquake,” said Mr Hussain while speaking at a Press conference at the residence of Sardar Rahim.
“Mian Nawaz Sharif, Shabaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto be allowed to return Pakistan as only a popular leadership knows how to mitigate the sufferings of the people,” the PML-N leader said.
The government, he said, had not yet officially communicated to Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif that he is being issued a new passport to facilitate him to take his son Hasan Nawaz to London for treatment.
Mr Hussain pointed out that Mian Nawaz Sharif has not applied afresh for renewal of his passport. The rulers should have taken action on his previous application submitted two years back, but the government dragged the issue so long unnecessarily.
He said Mian Nawaz Sharif was a former Prime Minister of the country and a citizen and if now the passport was being issued to him, it was not any favour. He, as a citizen, has every right to have a passport.
Sardar Rahim speaking on the occasion expressed his surprise over the report that the new passport which was being issued to Mian Nawaz Sharif would be valid to travel anywhere in the world, except Pakistan.
He said it would be a joke that a man who had been a prime minister of the country and who had been issued a passport as its citizen was being denied entry in his own country.
In reply to a question, he said, if there was any agreement between the government and ex-premier Nawaz Sharif for not returning home before 10 years, it should be made public. Otherwise, he said, the people would be justified to presume that the so-called agreement was nothing but a ploy to push the PML-N to the wall.
Saleem Zia said that the renewal of passport to Mian Nawaz Sharif had been made an un-necessary issue. He said Mian Nawaz Sharif should not only be issued a renewed passport, but be also not stopped from entering Pakistan.
Rafique Butt said the circumstances with which Pakistan was passing through in the wake of the quake, it was all the more necessary that Nawaz Sharif should not be stopped from coming home so that he could himself take part in the nation building activities.
Others present on the occasion were Eng Shamir Khan. Tariq Khan, Moosa and others.
