LARKANA: Policeman killed, two injured in encounter

LARKANA, Nov 2: One policeman was killed and two others injured in an encounter between police and outlaws in the mountainous belt of Gaibidero on Wednesday. According to reports, a gang of bandits had stormed the Raho-jee-Aath village around 90 kilometers from the Qambar-Shahdadkot district when marriage celebrations were in progress.

The bandits overpowered participants of the marriage and kidnapped Ismail Chandio, Punhal Chandio and Shamul Chandio.

Police led by TPO Mohammed Yousuf chased the bandits and reached the Deenar Buriro village.

The outlaws opened fire at the police party when it reached the village.

As a result, Mohammed Saleh Shah of the Qambar police station was killed on the spot.

ASI Ghulam Abbas Chandio and Sepoy Allah Rakhiyo Soomro were injured in the firing.

The outlaws managed to escape with Shamul Chandio and left behind Ismail Chandio and Punhal Chandio.

DPO Zulfikar Pathan later speaking at a press conference in Qambar along with the recovered kidnapped victims announced a compensation of Rs300,000 for the heirs of the deceased policeman and Rs50,000 each for the two injured policemen.

The kidnapped victims said they had no enmity with any one.

They said the kidnappers were demanding Rs400,000 for the recovery of Ms Chandio.
