Bird flu: Iran bans hunting

TEHRAN, Nov 1: Iran’s Environmental Protection Organisation has banned bird and wild fowl hunting in the north of the country in a bid to prevent the spread of bird flu, Iranian media said on Tuesday.

The reports said religious minorities have also been temporarily barred from hunting wild boars, which are found in northern Iran’s forest and mountains.

State media has also reported that the country is so far free of the deadly H5N1 virus strain.
