NAWABSHAH, Nov 1: A dispute relating to kidnapping of a girl by a primary school teacher in Sakrand was resolved here on Tuesday and the teacher and his accomplices were fined Rs300,000.
The girl, Amrita Kumari, 10, daughter of Mahesh Kumar, had been kidnapped by teacher Abass Ali Unnar with the help of his four friends on Oct 24 while she was going to school. The Sakrand police had recovered the girl the same day. Police had registered an FIR against the accused and arrested them.
Later, a delegation of the Unnar community, carrying the Holy Quran, visited the house of the girl and sought apology from the family after which the Hindu community agreed to settle the issue.
In the meantime, primary teachers Abass Ali Unnar and Zulfiqar Mehar were suspended by the EDO on directives of District Nazim Faryal Talpur.
The two parties – the Hindu community led by Mahesh Kumar and Mukhi Roopchand and Unnars led by Ramazan Unnar – made Syed Zain Shah, chairman of the Jeay Sindh Mahaz, their Ameer and a meeting was held in Majeed Keerio village on Tuesday.
Syed Zain Shah listened to both parties. The Unnars asked for forgiveness from the Hindu community.
Mr Shah told Dawn that the teacher was proved guilty after which he and his friends were fined Rs300,000. He said it was also decided that the Unnar community would go to the house of Mahesh Kumar and would ask for forgiveness after which the FIR would be taken back. It was further decided that the Unnars would not keep any contact with the girl and her family or try to harm them.
The fine amount was paid to the Hindu community.
Exam centre: District Nazim Faryal Talpur has declared premises of all examination centres in the district as the restricted area under section 144 CrPC on Tuesday.
The higher secondary certificate part-II supplementary examination 2005 of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Hyderabad would be conducted from November 15 to 19, 21 to 26 and November 28 and the order would remain operative on the dates as per examination schedule.
