SUKKUR, Nov 1: MNA Khalid Ahmed Khan Lund has urged Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim to remain neutral during the local body elections in Ghotki district claiming that his group will emerge victorious by defeating Ali Gohar Khan Mahar with a convincing margin.

At a press conference at the residence of Jam Liaqat Ali in the Jam Mehrab Samejo village, on Monday night, he said that he and Ali Gohar Mahar belonged to the PML and both should be given a free hand in the forthcoming local body elections.

He challenged Ali Gohar Mahar to have an open debate with him in Ghotki or anywhere else and advised his opponent to avoid personal attacks.

He hoped that Sardar Ahmed Yar Shar would extend his support to him.

He also suggested Ali Gohar Khan Mahar to nominate an educated person for the slot of Ghotki nazim whom, he assured, would be fully backed by him.

Foreseeing his defeat, he added, Ali Gohar Khan is may postpone the election.

He claimed that Sardar Nadir Akmal Leghari has also assured his full support to the Lund group.

JAILED: The civil judge and judicial magistrate-III of Khairpur on Tuesday awarded two years imprisonment to three people and fined them Rs10,000 each in a case registered at the A-section police station, Khairpur.

The convicts were identified as Abdul Haq alias Rano Jagirani, Muneer Hussain Jagirani and Altaf Hussain Shaikh. They will have to undergo another six months imprisonment if they did not pay the fine amount.

The court also sentenced Wazir Kandhro and Akbar alias Akoo Kandhro in cases registered at the Tando Masti Khan police station for two years imprisonment.

The convicts were also fined Rs5,000 each and in case of default, they will undergo another two months imprisonment.

Nek Mohammad Shaikh and Mohammad Ramzan Arain were also sentenced for two years imprisonment and were fined Rs5,000 each.

They will undergo another one year imprisonment if they did not pay the fine amount.

Cases had been registered against them at the Mir Wah police station for embezzling 1,440 wheat bags.

RESULTS: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Sukkur, has announced the results of information technology subject of HSC-II examinations of all groups.

A total of 838 candidates appeared in the paper, 398 of whom passed it.
