SAHIWAL, Nov 1: On the orders of the Lahore High Court, the police on Tuesday registered a kidnap case against Garden town SHO, three constables and their four accomplices.
Reports said SHO Raza Husain, constables Abdul Razaq, Ibrar Husain, Liaquat Ali and their accomplices Amjad Sohail, Muhammad Abbas Farid, Ibrahim and Siddique had arrested Talib Husain of Kot Khadim Ali Shah on Sept 2 as a suspect in a car theft case. The SHO refused Talib’s father Fateh Muhammad to have a meeting with his son.
Later, Fateh Muhammad filed a writ petition for the recovery of his son. After hearing the case, Justice Abdul Rashid Sheikh on 0ct 31 ordered arrest of SI Raza Husain and registration of a case against him and seven others.
Police have got a four-day physical remand of the sub-inspector and are conducting raids for the arrest of others.
GANGS SMASHED: Police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested 11 members of three dacoits’ gangs.
Reports said city ASP Fida Husain Kazmi and SHO Shafqat Ali after raids smashed three gangs — Nasiri, Razaqi and Ali Sher Saboka gangs — and arrested their 11 members, including Muhammad Saleem, Razaq, Alamsher, Mohsin and Muhammad Arif, who were wanted by the police in six murder cases.
The police said they had confessed to 42 crimes. As many as 27 pistols, guns and rifles were also recovered from them.
ARRESTED: Harappa police on Tuesday arrested a prayer leader of Chak 110/WM for violation of the Loudspeaker Act.
Maulvi Nisar Ahmad has been accused of delivering provocative speeches.
A case was registered under the Amplifier Act and he was sent to central jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
