Pakistani jailed in Kosovo

PRISTINA (Serbia-Montenegro), Nov 1: A former UN refugee agency (UNHCR) official in Kosovo was jailed for three years after being found guilty of sexually abusing a minor, his lawyer said on Tuesday.

Rashidoon Khan, a Pakistani, was convicted by an international panel of three judges in a local court of the provincial capital Pristina, lawyer Tome Gashi told AFP.

Khan, who worked for the UNHCR at the time of his arrest in January, was found guilty of one count of abusing a person under the age of 16 and falsifying an official document, Gashi said.

His imprisonment was the first such case against an employee of the United Nations mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), which along with Nato has administered the troubled Serbian province for more than six years.—AFP
