TI offers help to ensure accountability


LAHORE, Nov 1: The Berlin-based anti-corruption body, Transparency International, has offered all help to the Pakistan government in ensuring transparency and accountability in the ongoing relief and reconstruction efforts.

In a letter sent on Oct 26 by TI chairman Peter Eigen to Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, the TI has offered to support the rehabilitation of quake victims being undertaken by the authorities with advice and assistance, based on its international experience in curbing corruption and mismanagement of resources in humanitarian relief work.
