KHAIRPUR, Nov 1: District Nazim Niaz Hussain Shah has expressed regrets over closure of around 300 government schools in the district. He was talking to a delegation of reporters led by Akbar Abbas Zaidi here at the Muslim League (Functional) house.

The nazim said that he had accepted the challenge of reopening all closed schools when it had been mentioned in a meeting by officials of the education department.

He said that he would constitute committees at the level of union councils to ensure reopening of the schools.

He said that strict measures would be taken to check the performance of school-teachers.

He said the government was trying to improve the literacy rate.—BoC
