Masroor, Atif put Cantt CC into final
KARACHI, Oct 31: Opener Mohammad Masroor scored a breezy half-century and off-spiner Atiq Maqbool took three wickets to help Cantt Sports CC qualify for the final of the 20th Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan Cricket Festival with a 19-run victory over Tapal CC at the KG Ground on Monday.
Masroor, a pint-sized right-hander, made 51 off 43 deliveries with five boundaries as Cantt Sports CC totalled 188 for nine in their 25 overs. Mohammad Javed hit 23-ball 31 and Shahid Dawood struck three fours in making 24 off 18 balls.
Slow left-armers Rashid Hanif and Kamran Umar captured three wickets each.
Tapal CC, in reply, were all out for 169 in the penultimate over despite good contributions by openers Hasan Arshad (36) and skipper Ahmed Zeeshan Malik (30) as well as Sameer Khan who scored 35.
Atif took three for 38 and was named Man-of-the-Match.
Cantt Sports CC meet either Sui Gas CC or Pak Gymkhana in Wednesday’s final.
