SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 31: Tehsil nazim Engineer Bilal Virk said at a meeting here on Monday a laboratory would soon be installed in the Government High School in collaboration with the Unicef to test the quality of drinking water.

The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) had already installed three filtration plants to provide people clean drinking water, he added.

He said 10 plants would be installed at different places. Sewerage facilities would soon be provided in those localities which did not have it, Mr Virk continued.

He said streetlights would be repaired and new lights would be installed in those areas where these facilities were not available.

The tehsil nazims have been advised to provide the list of development works in their union council so that they could be included in Annual Development Programme (ADP) and finalized in due course of time, Mr Virk stated.

He said the priority would be given to those union councils which have been ignored during the last four years.

Patch work on roads would start soon, while construction of new roads would begin after laying of sewerage lines, the nazim said.

Parks and gardens would be improved and the administration has been directed to provide recreational facilities to the visitors. Graveyards, eidgahs and janazgahs would also be cleaned of encroachments and boundary walls would be constructed around them, Mr Virk concluded.
