BAHAWALPUR, Oct 30: A woman and her mother suffered burns when the former’s husband set them ablaze by throwing petrol on them at Himaytan Basti near Satellite Town on Sunday.

According to police, Nazar Muhammad’s daughter Kiran, 18, had strained relations with her husband Muhammad Husain alias Kala, a notorious criminal who had been declared proclaimed offender. She had returned to her parents.

A couple of days ago, Kiran had refused to go back with her husband who in revenge planned to kill his wife and mother-in-law. He, together with accomplice Siraj Ahmad, managed to reach the rooftop of Nazar’s house from where he made a hole and threw petrol on the two women who were asleep.

Burnt and bruised, Kiran and her mother Shamshad Mai, 50, raised an alarm and attracted neighbours who took them to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital where they were stated to be in a precarious condition with 90 per cent burns.

The Baghdadul Jadid police registered a case against the culprit, who was at large till last reports came in.
