Dacoit shot dead in ‘encounter’

SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 30: Shahkot and the Highway Patrol police shot dead a dacoit in an encounter near Shahkot on Faisalabad Road on Sunday. Reports reaching here said that deceased dacoit Waris Oadh along with his two accomplices was on his way to Faisalabad by car. Near Shahkot, a Panwan mobile police team signalled the car to stop, but the outlaws opened fire on law enforcers instead. The police, already on the alert, returned the fire, killing one of the outlaws instantly. However, his accomplices managed to escape from the scene.

Nankana DPO Tahir Alam Khan said the deceased dacoit was the resident of Kot Pindi Das in the limits of Factory Area police station, Sheikhupura. He said the deceased was involved in various incidence of heinous crimes.

The DPO said that a police party led by SHO Shakoor Jehangir Butt was conducting raids to arrest the absconding outlaws.
