By A Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 30: Pakistan Livestock Research Scientists Association President Dr Hafiz Mohammad Matiullah has said that country’s livestock sector can surely rise to the occasion and boost socio-economic development if due attention is paid to get rid it of various diseases.

He made these observations while speaking at a seminar on “Livestock policy, its implications and latest research” held here on Sunday.

Mr Matiullah said no national livestock policy had ever been formed that could match the realities on ground.

He said latest homoeo research in livestock sector inspired national agricultural research institutions enough to force the University of Animal Sciences Lahore to start a PhD programme after awarding MSc degrees in homoeo research.

He maintained that Indian researchers and European Union had also acknowledged the efficacy of latest homoeo curatives against viral diseases of livestock. India is now placing orders with us for provision of homoeo medicines, he added.

Dr Matiullah said our own policymakers, on the contrary, were not paying heed towards this major breakthrough as the English medicines were not curative of viral diseases of herds like Foot and Mouth.

He said these effective, cheap and side effect-free medicines had not been included in national livestock policy on the pretext of having originated from homoeopathics.
